Therefore it must be included in your strategy, as so many tactics and techniques make use of the gi. At the same time, if you're a beginner, your first gi doesn't have to matter much except that it fits . The more expensive gis are usually worth the money because they're better tailored and a bit tougher over the long-run. I started with a fifty-dollar gi, and wearing that one gave me the experience I needed to choose a better one a few months later.
